Make a Great E-Moto Awesome With Ergo Mods for E Ride Pro S & SS

E Ride Pro. Arguably the most sought-after e-moto brand currently on the market. It’s faster than other e-motos in the same category, most riders say it feels better to ride, it’s more robust in many ways, and the list continues.

If you’re after something that’s almost perfectly designed for you, straight out of the box, E Ride Pro should be a name that’s seriously high on your wish list. The flagship model – the E Ride Pro SS – boasts a whopping 12kW peak power from its 72V40AH battery giving a top speed of 60MPH.

The smaller version, the E Ride Pro S has 6kW peak power from a 72V30AH battery, giving a top speed of 50MPH, also very impressive for the smaller model, but today we’re here to talk about the big dog.

The E Ride Pro S is the perfect e-moto for general commuting, while the E Ride Pro SS is a great option for those who want to get out and ride in any condition. Plenty of power, with no need to upgrade the powertrain… unless, of course you want to!

Since E Ride Pro is the newest electric dirt bike company to enter the market in a big way, aftermarket parts haven’t been developed yet to the same extent as some of the more established brands. That is slowly changing, as more and more companies are designing some top-notch upgradable parts. In addition to E Ride-specific parts becoming available, much of the existing crop of Surron and Talaria parts will fit the E Ride Pro SS as well, so even early adopters will have something to tinker with.

Best E Ride Pro SS Mods

Before we jump into the mods available, it might be worth pointing out how awesome this e-moto is even if you don’t make any mods. The 72V electrical system is a game-changer in the world of mid-sized e-motos. However, you know us here at GritShift! We’re passionate about modding e-motos, so below is a list of upgrades that make a good bike fantastic. Most of the mods that will be mentioned here will help with the ergonomics. Think of the way you buy a pair of jeans. You can choose many opinions – long leg, relaxed fit, high waist etc… but you don’t do the same with your e-moto. That’s the beauty of modding, you make it fit perfectly. There is already plenty of power on tap, and in our experience with the SS, it’s about making that power work for you!

First mods for your E Ride Pro SS

Before you do any modding, ride your bike extensively as it is. See what it feels like, dial in the suspension – both the front and rear. Check out this article here if you’re not sure how to do that.

See what feels comfy, or what needs changing. How do the handlebars feel, are you sitting at the right height, feet secure on the footpegs? How about looking at the display – are you bending your neck uncomfortably? The easiest way is to get a mate to help with positioning on the bike, or at least get them to take a photo side-on so you can see how you’re sitting and standing.

Let’s look at some common mods:

Wheels

OK, so technically not ergonomic related, but super necessary. Like the jeans analogy, tires are like shoes, if someone said to you, here’s a pair of runners. You’d be like ‘thanks, but I need some for the gym/running/Crossfit/basketball/ etc…’

Your E Ride will come with tires. Well, hopefully it does. The question is, are they suitable for what you want to do? Probably not. Go out and choose the right tread for your riding style. While you’re at it, consider upgrading to a 16/19 or a 18/21 combo.

The rear wheel really is the only thing that would “need” to be changed. This makes the biggest difference

Bar risers

A direct mount stem riser is a great way to lift the handlebars slightly to place them in a better riding position. If you’re slightly taller or stand up on the pegs often, you’ll appreciate the extra height. The GritShift direct mount stem riser, in particular, has been engineered in a way to increase the clamping area, which increases handlebar stiffness. At the same time, you could also look at a different handlebar for increased height, different rake, width, etc.

An important point to note is the positioning of the display unit clamps on the E Ride Pro SS. The clamps coincide with the positioning of the direct mount stem riser clamps – from any company, not just ours. This led to many riders cutting one of the clamps off the display unit, which left it precariously weighted, just asking for trouble.

If you do add the direct mount stem riser, from any brand, please look at getting a correct display mounting bracket to save the life of your display unit. The display mount designed by GritShift has an adjustable display angle, so you can position the display at the right angle.

Footpegs

So far, it’s pretty safe to say no e-moto has been released with awesome footpegs. They all seem to have footpegs that don’t do any wonders in actually helping you grip the bike. Don’t even think about riding in muddy/rainy conditions before you change the footpegs.

The stock footpegs are fine if you are sticking to the road and riding with tennis shoes. If you’re going to wear Moto boots, then grippy footpegs are a must.

Grips

Grips are something of a personal preference, if you like the texture of different grips, swap the OEM for something that suits your style. At the same time, why not color match to the style of your e-moto? Full waffle, half waffle, pillow tops – there are endless options.

PSA: Upgrade your gear, too

When calculating the cost of upgrading parts of your e-moto, something that needs to be considered is how are you going to look after your body – what sort of gear will you be wearing? GritShift has a wide range of riding gear you can add to your order to keep things simple, but the main message is to be safety conscious. Ride hard but not stupid.

Remember you want to ride your e-moto tomorrow, and the next day, and the day after, so wearing the right clothing is important. Especially if you’re taking it up a notch at the track, or even standard riding on the road. My thoughts are always to buy the best gear you can afford – you only have one body. I also like to look at it this way – new bike, new gear. E-moto math means it’s all included in my mind!

E Ride Pro SS: Mods Optional

The E Ride Pro SS e-moto is arguably one of the only e-motos that doesn’t need any mods to make it awesome. But there is always room for improvement to make it absolutely perfect. Ergonomic mods are some of the easiest, cheapest mods you can do that make a huge difference to the bike’s overall feel. You know you’ve got it right when your e-moto simply ‘fits’.

Bar risers, footpegs and grips are simple to install with minimal tools. Although technically not an ergonomic mod, changing the tires to suit your riding style will also do wonders to grip the surface and get that power to the ground. Additionally, to make sure you’ve fully covered all aspects, ensure you have the best quality riding gear that you can afford.

Check out the range in the GritShift shop to source all your ergonomic mods to enhance your e-moto. And, if you’re like me – always intrigued by the idea of more power – while you’re there, have a sneaky look at the new controllers just released for the E Ride Pro. 14KW… mmmm! Just saying… 🙂
