The E Ride Pro SR 775

Everything you need to know about the E Ride Pro SR

Categories:
  • The E Ride Pro SR has an insane power-to-weight ratio, with 25kW of peak power on a 180 pound bike
  • The new SR 775 has a 19” front and 16” rear setup, providing more stability in high-speed corners
  • With a new app, the tune can be easily and meticulously controlled via Bluetooth
  • From the factory with a 72V system, the E Ride Pro SR requires little modification… that is, unless you want to!
  • To ensure the bike fits you perfectly, you can still upgrade the handlebars, riser, and grips. A perfect fit means better riding.

E Ride Pro’s latest model, the SR, is a crazy powerful, high-end, mid-sized e-moto that’s designed to wipe out the competition. And the new version, the SR 775 Edition, also known as the Special Edition, has even better geometry and ride feel, so gas dirt bikes better watch out!

If you’re a seasoned rider, or at least someone with a bit of sense, the SR could be the bike for you. I just wouldn’t be recommending it to total beginners without some serious warnings! More on that shortly…

E Ride Pro has been paving the way for 72V high spec, competition-ready e-motos that require very little modification to make them rideable in the way that most of us ride. That is, spirited around the MX track, or technical through the woods. Looking at you, early Surron bikes with lots of mods needed…

Anyway, here at GritShift, we’re all about getting out and riding. Our team consists of pro riders, weekend riders, and those who like to tinker with bikes – and everyone in between. I’m a weekend rider now while my kids are young, but I have entered my fair share of amateur events and meets over the years. Most of us at GritShift have ridden, or own their own E Ride Pro SR.

These are our thoughts on the E Ride Pro SR:

Why the SR?

Simple. E Ride Pro makes quality bikes. The SR is the next level. It’s fast, has a great ride feel, and with the new app, the tunability is fantastic.

Currently, there are two versions of the E Ride Pro SR. The standard SR Enduro, which comes with a 19/18 wheel set, and the 775 edition, which comes with the 19/16 wheel set and a few other changes, such as stiffer forks.

I mentioned before that I don’t recommend this bike for a beginner, but the new app that E Ride has released allows a heap of tunability. This means you can set the individual power output on eco, sport, and race modes to suit both the rider and the terrain.

However, if you know you’re not going to take advantage of the full power output, then it would be worthwhile checking out the other e-motos in E Ride Pro’s range.

The stats on the E Ride Pro SR are staggering. 25kW peak power on a bike that weighs around 180 pounds!

As you can see from this infographic, the enduro and the 775 versions are very similar. The biggest change is in the wheel size. With a 16 inch rear, the 775 edition makes a more stable bike for high speed cornering.

For more info on wheel sizes and to help choose which is better for your riding style, check out this article:

The weight is slightly different between models, but as you could imagine, tires are heavy, so that would be where some of the weight has gone. The other change is the front fork. On the 775 model, the fork is stiffer and designed to help with higher-speed riding. There is lots of adjustability on the forks of both models.

Where do you ride the SR?

The E Ride Pro SR is best suited for MX tracks, high-speed enduro events, technical TKO style events, commutes, and more. Due to the features on the app, you’re able to tune the bike to suit most riding styles. Need zippy hole-shot speed? Set the app to max power in race mode. Need controllable speed in tight, technical corners? Set this on the app.

While the E Ride Pro SR doesn’t come with an on-road version, you can register this bike in most countries around the world. Just check with your local authorities. If you’re in the US, see Dirt Legal, GritShift’s sister company, and they’ll give you some assistance.

The Modding Process

Yes, before we get any further, you can still mod a 25kW bike! It may not be for the extra power, but upgrading components to make your bike fit you better is really common. The E Ride Pro SR is a great bike right out of the box, but it is a one-size-fits-all. Great if you’re the one-size! This happens on every e-moto and gas dirt bike, and is something that is easily fixed.

First mods that we recommend (and do ourselves to our bikes) are:

From there, you could look at modding the parts that you put unnecessary strain on. For example, if you’re spending your time at an SX track, then I would be looking at suspension to take the big hits. If your bike is a commuter, then perhaps I’d be looking at changing to a comfy seat. Remember, the modding process is a personal journey, and it can be endless!

Would we recommend the E Ride Pro SR?

Quick answer: Yes! It’s a fast, sturdy e-moto with a nice ride feel. Best suited to those who want the high speed, MX track sessions, or ride enduro. If you have prior e-moto experience or gas dirt bike experience, the SR would be perfect.

Long answer: If you’re a beginner, the E Ride Pro SR could be OK for you to ride, depending on your abilities. However, it might not be the best value for you. While you can run a lower power tune to start with, there are e-motos like the E Ride Pro 2.0, or the ETM RTR, which would be better suited and better value.

The other side to this is, you can start with a lower powered tune, and as your abilities grow, you can increase the tune. Much like having your e-moto grow with you. If you’re not sure if that would fit your needs, have a chat with our team. ****

Moms and Dads: This is a full-on, real dirt bike. If you’re looking at this bike for your child, I would only recommend it if they have lots of quality prior experience on gas dirt bikes, with at least a 250cc, and you trust their abilities. Most brands of e-moto recommend 16+, but you know your child best. Here is a great article for you to look at:

Overall, everyone in our team at GritShift loves the E Ride Pro SR, and now that you have the option of getting a different wheel size, it’s one of our most anticipated models. We’re sure there will be at least an SR or two at the GritShift HQ for years to come.
