If so, you’re in the right spot! I’m Margie, a weekly writer for GritShift and dirtbike aficionado! I’ve been lucky enough to be on the receiving side of presents, and also have many dirtbike friends and family who are easy to buy for… when you know what to get!
This blog is all about making your life easier. I’ll let you know the top 10 gifts that any e-moto fanatic would love. I’ll also give you some clues on what it all means if you have little to no experience with dirt bikes yourself, and exactly what to get if you’ve opened a store like ours at GritShift.com and thought… I have no idea what I need to look at!

These upgrades apply to motorcycles like:
- Surron
- Segway
- Talaria
- E Ride Pro
- 79bike
- Stark
- And more
I’ll break down the sections into gifts for comfort, gifts for power upgrades, and gifts that are cheaper. I’ll also include some tips on who the gift would be best suited to (and what it does), and the cost. I’ll give an approximation, as these items do go on sale every now and then.
I suggest signing up to our free email community to be the first to hear about sales, cool things in the e-moto world, and more. It doesn’t matter if your special person is your kid, significant other, friend, or parent, these gift ideas suit anyone who loves their e-moto.

How to use our GritShift website
This paragraph is for those of you who have little experience when it comes to e-moto. Skip this section if you already know a thing or 2 about e-moto.
When you click on the links below, the item will appear in a new tab. You can read the description, or click on the fitment tab to ensure the item is suitable for the e-moto your rider has. Some items are universal, meaning they will work on any brand of e-moto, but some are specific to a particular brand/model.
Sometimes there are options for a particular color. Think about whether your gift recipient has a particular color scheme going on. Try to stay within the color scheme to create a complete look.
If you’re not sure at any time, contact one of our team members here, and they will help guide you to the correct part. Everyone on our team are experienced riders who have built many bikes – from commuters to competition winners – and are happy to help.
I’ll include links to articles that you’ll be able to send to your rider to give them suggestions and ideas on how to best upgrade the part on their e-moto. Everything I’ve included in this list is possible to install at home, but if your rider has any questions or challenges upgrading, there are plenty of YouTube tutorials, our support team to contact, or they can head to their local e-moto dealer.
Essential Comfort & Control Upgrades
These are upgrades for comfort. They will allow the rider to ride for longer, helping to lessen muscle fatigue. This means less recovery time and helps with better riding.
1. ProTaper Pillow Top Grips
- Make/Model: Universal fitment
- Cost: Under $30
Pillow Top Grips are the squishy parts on the ends of the handlebars. Grips wear out relatively frequently, so they need to be replaced periodically. You’ll also find the grips on stock bikes (bikes that haven’t had any upgrades yet) are pretty bad. This makes a great gift for anyone with a brand new bike, or one that has been well used.
It is simple to replace the grips; it doesn’t require any maintenance costs, and these grips will fit any electric dirt bikes.
Our advice: When purchasing these grips, choose a color that matches well with their e-moto.

2. Guts Racing Hardcore Gripper Ribbed Seat Cover
- Make/Model: Specific to each make of e-moto
- Cost: Under $80
The Guts Racing Hardcore Gripper Ribbed Seat Cover is a seat cover that goes over the current seat. It gives the rider extra grip on the seat, minimising muscle fatigue and allowing better control over the bike. Many top AMA riders (the pros) use Guts Racing Seat Covers.
You’ll need to know the brand of e-moto and the model to purchase a seat cover, as they are specific to each model. Also, be aware that there is an option to purchase the complete seat; read the description carefully. It is unlikely that you’ll need to purchase a complete seat, this only needs to happen if they’ve damaged the current seat.
Replacing the cover is simple and something your rider should be able to do themselves, with minimal tools.
Our advice: Again, color options are plentiful. Try to stick with the current color scheme.

3. Heavy Hitter 2 Inch Rise Direct Mount Stem
- Make/Model: Universal
- Cost: Under $70
This 2” riser goes between the handlebars and the front end of the bike (the steering tube). This raises the handlebars up by 2 inches, and also forward slightly, which gives a really good riding position.
You might have noticed that e-motos like the Surron LBX are small dirt bikes, which is part of the fun. They’re really manoeuvrable. However, if you’re anything above average height, the bike can feel rather cramped. Even for people of average height, an e-moto can be quite small.
This is a really common mod that most riders do when they first get their e-moto. This riser, that we’ve designed and made at GritShift, is extra strong as it’s made from Aerospace-grade aluminium, yet it’s also lightweight. It has been designed for extra bar stiffness, which means the handlebars won’t twist while riding.
You’ll be able to select from a range of great colours. Fitment is possible by the rider. It requires a few tools, but they should have everything they need if they own a basic tool set.
Our advice: Does your rider have aftermarket forks? (the 2 tubes, either side of the front wheel?)
If so, or if you’re not sure, I would suggest contacting us here to check that this riser is compatible. It will fit most e-motos, but it’s better to check than not. We could go off a picture or description to help you figure it out.
Also, does your rider have aftermarket handlebars? This riser fits 31.8mm handlebars; there are other options if your rider has different handlebars. Again, check with our team if you’re not sure.

Serious Performance & Protection
The gift ideas in this section are made for upgrading the bike’s performance. There are options in all price ranges; it depends on what you would like to gift your rider.
4. EBMX X9000 V3 Controller Plug-n-Play Kit
- Make/Model: Surron S, LBX, Segway X160, X260
- Cost: Around $1200
A controller is something unique to electric dirt bikes. You can think of the controller as the brain of the bike. It takes signals such as rider inputs of the throttle and smartly outputs this information to the battery and motor. The stock controller on the Surron is OK, but if you want extra power or the ability to fine-tune the way the power is delivered, this EBMX controller is perfect.
This is a pretty expensive part, but it does a lot, which is why – along with the motor and battery – this is one of the dream upgrades for any Surron owner.
The great thing about electric dirt bikes is how easy it is to upgrade the power. Unlike traditional gas dirt bikes, most of the power upgrades on an e-moto are plug and play. My recommendation is to upgrade the controller first. This is something that the rider can install.
Our advice: Does your rider have an aftermarket motor? Or have they already upgraded the controller? Have a look at their current controller; if it still has the logo of the brand of bike, it’s likely they haven’t upgraded it yet. Also, have they upgraded their motor? Most motors are compatible, but again, feel free to check with our team before you purchase this controller.
5. Heavy Hitter 420 Primary Chain Drive Conversion Kit
- Make/Model: Surron LBX, Segway X160, X260, E Ride Pro S & SS 2.0, Ventus ONE+, 79Bike Falcon Pro/GT, and more
- Cost: Under $100
This is an upgrade for those riders who ride hard. If your rider is loving the MX tracks, or technical riding through the woods or enduro trails, this upgrade will be super handy. This conversion kit would be awesome for someone who has already upgraded their motor or controller.
Many bikes come stock with a belt drive. This part swaps that to have a chain drive. This is not the chain connected to the wheel, it’s a hidden one that transfers power from the motor. A belt drive is great, but under lots of torque – as you get with upgraded motors – it can slip or break.
Our advice: This is something a rider can do with minimal tools, but there are some tricks when it comes to installing. Check out some of our videos on YouTube for guidance.
Consider adding this tool to your purchase:
GritShift Belt Change Multi Tool
It makes getting to the belt much easier!
6. Heavy Hitter Surron V2 Skid Plate
- Make/Model: Surron LBX, Surron S, Segway X160, X260
- Cost: Under $220
This gift could save your rider the cost of a new motor. Think of it as body armour for the bottom of the bike – the part where all the expensive stuff is stored. It helps protect the e-moto when your rider is having fun through the trails. If they try to get over a rock or log and get hung up, extensive damage can be done to the underside. This part helps prevent that.
The skidplate that we’ve designed and created in-house has been through some extensive testing. Our experienced riders/R&D team have thoroughly tested this to ensure the best slide angles, the strongest, the lightest, and the easiest to install. We designed it to survive competitive racing, and if it can survive that, it’s more than enough for anything else.
This is something that your rider can install themselves. You have the option of many colors – simply pick one that matches the color scheme of the bike.
7. Upgraded Brake Pads
- Make/Model: Surron LBX (2017-2024), Segway X160, X170, Ventus ONE+, E Ride Pro S, SS2.0, Talaria Sting MX3,MX4,XXX, Zero XB, and more – check the fitment section for full list
- Cost: Under $30
Brake pads are an easy, quick upgrade that will make any brake system perform much better. Remember, to go fast safely, you have to be able to stop fast safely. These sintered MTB brake pads are perfect for all-around performance. They help with heat dissipation, which allows the brakes to work more efficiently. It is also a good idea to have backup brake pads if your rider is planning on racing.
What you get in this kit is front pads with the backing plate and springs, and rear pads with the backing plate and springs (everything you need to replace the pads). This can be done by your rider.
Our advice: These brake pads only work with the original brake system. If any upgrades have been made to the brake system, these won’t fit. If you’re not sure, contact our team, and they will advise you if these are the perfect fit.
8. GritShift Blinder LED Light Bar Headlight
- Make/Model: Surron LBX, Segway X160, X260, Talaria Sting MX3, E Ride Pro S, SS 2.0,3.0,SR, Ventus ONE+, Rerode R1 – universal fit with some modifications
- Cost: Under $40
This is the gift of extra light! If your rider likes riding at night, or perhaps commutes to and from work, with the possibility that it will be dark, this light bar headlight is the perfect gift. It also simply looks cool!
It is a simple install that your rider will be able to do, utilizing the factory bracket and plugging it in. It has 700 lumens, which is bright, and a great range – both a wide beam and a concentrated spot light, which is made possible by the way the light pattern has been designed.
Like all GritShift items, it is heavy-duty. And like most of our parts, we couldn’t find a better light, so we made one!
Gates GT2 Power Grip Belt
- Make/Model: Surron LBX, Segway X260, Talaria XXX, E Ride Pro S, SS 2.0, 3.0, SR
- Cost: Under $40
There is nothing worse than an afternoon being ruined by a broken drive belt. Ride day over. Back to the shops before the next ride, unless you have a spare.
If you’re not sure what this part is, it’s the part that takes the power from the motor and delivers it to the chain that drives the rear wheel. It’s basically how the bike gets its power. If you’ve read this whole blog, this is the thing that chain conversion from earlier would replace. Please don’t buy the chain conversion and also this – if your rider’s bike has a chain conversion, this part is irrelevant!
On the other hand, if you’re not sure about the chain conversion, this is another way to get improved reliability without doing a big driveline surgery. This Gates belt is a big upgrade to the belt that comes from the factory, so it won’t break as often, and it is much cheaper than the chain conversion.
It is something that your rider can do with a basic tool set. If they don’t have a basic tool set, or if you want to add to the gift bag, this Belt Change Multi Tool can make it much easier to remove the old belt:

Or, better yet, add this to your cart so your rider can feel part of the team even when they’re not out riding.
Our Best Buying Advice
To ensure you have the right parts selected, you need to know a few things about your rider’s bike. These are:
- The brand of e-moto (Surron, E Ride Pro, Talaria, etc)
- The model of the e-moto (Surron LBX, E Ride Pro SS, Talaria Sting MX3, etc)
- Have they made any changes to the bike so far?
You could either look at their bike for clues to what it is – if you’re brand new to e-moto, this might be more difficult, but there will be a description somewhere on the bike (unless the sticker has been removed or covered).
You also need to know if any mods have been made so far. Some of the gift ideas I’ve mentioned only work on a stock e-moto. This might need to be a question for your rider, or see if you can take photos and chat with us. We might be able to decipher for you.
Chat with us if you’re not sure – we can even help you off just a picture or a description of the bike. Otherwise, you might need to ask your rider for some clues.
