the Stark Varg with a winning title

How Stark Varg is Winning World Titles

  • FIM World Championship Title: In 2026, Stark Varg secured the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship Manufacturer’s Title.
  • Guinness World Record Elevation: In November 2025, Swiss mountaineer-rider Jiri Zak rode the bike to a record-breaking altitude of 6,721 meters (22,050 feet) on the Ojos del Salado volcano.
  • Top Rider Placements: Racers Eddie Karlsson and Toby Martyn secured consistent 4th and 5th place overall finishes during the 2026 SuperEnduro season.

Stark Varg. If you’re a bike rider and haven’t heard about the Stark Varg yet, I suggest you find some wifi… The Varg EX was big news even when it was in pre-production stage a few years ago, and now more refined and ultra fast, this electric dirt bike is making history.

Mid-sized high-performance electric dirt bikes have been alluring to riders both from the gas bike world, and those who have never ridden a dirtbike before. They’re relatively cheap, light, and ridiculously powerful. Prior to Stark, companies like Surron had already been mass-producing mid sized electric dirt bikes with futuristic technology. Talaria quickly followed, then E Ride Pro, Arctic Leopard, and many more.

That is all great within the e-bike world, but how do you break into the gas dirt bike world, where manufacturers have been honing their machines for years and die-hard fans have only just recovered from the idea of four-strokes being allowed to compete, and change is always… hard?

For Stark Varg, the answer is easy. You show up. You win. You make the world see that electricity is no longer just a ‘toy’.

This is what they’ve done.

Stark Varg vs. RyanF9

Before we jump right into the wins for Stark Varg, let me explain a little about what this 80Hp machine actually is. In fact, press play on this video and you can see for yourself.

When Ryan from Fortnine talks about the Varg, people listen. With a following of millions, Fortnine is a channel that doesn’t hold back. If it’s good, it’s good. If it’s not, Ryan will say. Clearly, the Varg was impressive. As Ryan said, “Is the Stark Varg faster? – I’ll let you decide”, and that’s what Stark Future has done. Let their motorcycle do the talking.

Stark Varg vs. FIM SuperEnduro

Stark has been attempting to compete with the Varg in the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship for a few years.

In 2024, Varg was infamously kicked out of the race at the 11th hour, with the FIM backstepping on a rule change that allowed electric motorcycles to enter. Although many disputes were made, it took until 2025 before the FIM allowed electric motorcycles to compete, and Stark Racing jumped on the opportunity.

In 2026, a Stark Varg entered and won the SuperEnduro World Championship Manufacturer’s Title. This means that riders from Stark Racing acquired more points overall than other riders to take out the title. Not bad for a new manufacturer with a completely different power train!

Stark racers Eddie Karlsson finished 4th overall, and Toby Martyn finished 5th, riding consistently well. Stark Racing Director, Sebastien Tortelli, said in a recent press release:

“Our riders’ exceptional performances have culminated in a historic achievement: securing our first-ever FIM SuperEnduro World Manufacturers’ Championship title. This represents a major milestone for Stark, the team, and everyone who has contributed to this journey.”

This is only the beginning. Not just for Stark, but for both gas and electric dirt bikes. By adding the Varg into mainstream competitions, I think you’ll also find that traditional gas dirt bikes will also improve. Competition is always a good way to move technology forward.

Stark Varg vs. Guinness World Records

If winning a world stage event wasn’t enough, high achiever (literally!) Stark Varg also recently broke a Guinness World Record for the highest elevation reached by a motorcycle. In November 2025, Jiri Zak, a Swiss mountaineer-rider, took the Varg to a height of 6721 meters (22050 feet)  on the side of an active volcano, Ojos del Salado.

In a location where traditional oxygen-thirsty gas dirt bikes would have struggled, the electric motor on the Varg powered it effortlessly to the tops of mountains. Well, that and superb riding from Jiri Zak. If anyone has been at any altitude before, you’ll know how hard it is to do anything physical when the oxygen is thin.

What does it mean for the e-moto community?

For us at GritShift, home to high-performance mid-sized e-motos, we’re loving watching Varg break barriers. We’ve been fans of e-motos since Surron first started producing the first brand-new exciting machines, and now the bridge between gas dirt bikes and electric has all but disappeared.

What does it all mean for mid sized e-motos? Only time will tell, but from what I see, it can only make things better. The Varg really is in a different category. The power is substantially more, the size is a ‘full sized’ dirt bike, and the price is also similar to full-sized gas dirt bikes. In some cases, 4 times the price of a high performance mid sized e-moto.

The Varg also rides more similarly to a full-sized gas dirt bike, not like a mid-sized flickable e-moto, which is why I say they’re in a different category. However, as Varg forges forward in the dirt bike world, they are leaving space for other dirt bikes to become more mainstream, and this would include the category we’re all used to: the e-moto category.

Full-sized Stark Varg or mid-sized e-moto?

Riders who love the smaller mid-sized e-moto enjoy that nimble, flickable ride feel on a bike that’s so much fun. Not to mention, modding a mid-sized e-moto is much easier, cost effective, and can still produce some serious power.

As I said in this article, The Varg is like Apple, where the Komodo, Arctic Leopard, and some of the other bigger e-motos are like Android. Both good. Both different. Apple has its own apps and sophisticated aura. Android is more customizable and happy to play with everyone.

Which bike is right for you? This is a personal preference, and one that could also be driven by what your bank account says, given the cost of the Varg. Are you looking to compete alongside 450cc gas bikes? Or are you looking to have some fun on weekends? Are you looking to tinker with your bike and customize it?

If you’re leaning towards high performance, but still like the e-moto vibe, here are some bikes to check out:

What’s next for Varg?

This is possibly the most exciting part. For a company whose motto is ‘challenge the norm to improve how things are done’, I think Stark Varg is delivering. With a team set to race in the FIM EnduroGP World Championship 2026, Red Bull Erzbergrodeo, MXGP, and many more world stage events.

While there are still teething problems to resolve, when it comes to competing with gas dirt bikes, such as training officials on electric battery safety, how to do battery swaps instead of hot refueling, and ensuring events are fair for all, Stark is working closely with governing bodies to help pave the way forward.

GritShift thoughts

Overall, this is one exciting space to be in! While we love watching the Stark Varg make waves in the dirt bike world, competing head to head with traditional gas powered dirt bikes, we also love riding e-moto. For us, part of the enjoyment comes from customizing your own bike and fine-tuning it to best suit your riding style. This can all be done for much cheaper than purchasing a Varg – bonus!

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what you’re riding, as long as you get out and ride! Whether you have a Varg or a Surron, check out our website for spares and improved parts. And, by purchasing from us, you’re helping our R&D team create new and exciting competition-ready parts. Could Rusty and his R&D team be designing parts for the Varg, too?
