A Pit Bike in Our Top 3 E-Motos of 2025? You Better Believe It.

Would you believe that a pitbike-sized e-moto made our top 3 e-motos of 2025? The ETM RTR from Electro and Co. is exceeding all of our expectations, and is one of the most fun, small-sized, high-powered, electric dirt bikes we’ve ridden!

Between all of us here at GritShift, we’ve ridden just about every e-moto that’s been released so far this year. And if you follow us on YouTube or Instagram, you’ll see we don’t just take our bikes out for a leisurely stroll. We thrash them. We go way beyond their limits to test what’s going to break, then design our own parts, made specifically for the big senders.

With that comes a huge respect for a quality build in an e-moto. We know the kind of intense riding we do isn’t always what the manufacturers intended, but what stands out is when the bones of the bike are solid. Axle bolts, forks, even rear swingarms are easily upgradable, but when the e-moto is structurally strong at its core, we know we’re onto something good.

That’s where Electro and Co. come in; they’re a bunch of riders who understand what their customer wants. A quality, moddable e-moto that’s going to suit everyone from the daily dawdler to the one doing backflips.

When we first got our hands on the pre-production model ETM RTR, we knew it was going to be special.

Here’s why:

Reason #1: The Perfect Power-to-Size Ratio for Fun

Of course, we love our super high-powered e-motos that can compete in big enduro events, but when you want to have some fun on an MX track, you can’t go past a smaller-framed bike. Not that the ETM RTR is the smallest pit bike, with its 44.5” wheelbase and 30” seat height.

For comparison, the Surron LBX wheelbase is 49.4” and the seat height is 32.6”.

Match that small, light frame with 8kW of power – which is exactly what the larger 2025 Surron LBX has – and you get great power in a small package.

The smaller size makes it easier for wheelies

This translates to a flickable, nimble feel with incredibly fast acceleration. For experienced riders, it’s playful fun. For newbies, the small frame makes it less overwhelming to start with, but the power is there when the riding experience starts adding up.

Or you aren’t expecting 8kW when you twist the throttle on a pit bike, and you loop it. Just take it easy and that won’t be you!

Reason #2: Uncompromising Build Quality and Durability

Electro and Co. have been around for a while, designing electric conversion kits for gas-powered dirt bikes. Their attention to detail and build quality is nothing new for Electro and Co. I believe this could be one of the reasons why GritShift and Electro and Co. get along so well. We both have the same values when it comes to great quality and performance parts designed to last.

Even though the ETM RTR is the first e-moto Electro and Co has designed from the ground up, they’re not new to high-performance parts and mods. Incorporated into their design, the ETM RTR has a super strong frame, which is ‘built for strength and lightweight agility’ as Electro and Co. mention on their website. We agree. The swingarm is solid with no flex, the subframe is ultra strong, and in general, the RTR is an all-around solid build.

One thing we noticed was that even the axle bolts are properly specced to withstand the bigger jumps. This is something you generally don’t even see on many larger e-motos, and it’s a small detail not many riders pay attention to – until it breaks. Electro and Co. clearly know what they’re doing.

Reason #3: Designed by Riders, for Riders

Like us, the team at Electro and Co. are dirt bike riders. They know what riders are looking for, as they spend their free time on bikes as we do. When you first get the ETM RTR stock, it just feels right. The ergos when you’re sitting on it are confidence-inspiring. Everything is in the right place. If you’re taller or shorter than average, you can simply adjust the adjustable peg mount bars for your footpegs.

Many of the smaller pit bikes feel really cramped, but on the ETM RTR, you have a more natural leg position, and the handlebars are in the right spot. Even the seat is half comfy. I say half, as it’s not a lounge chair, the seat is still on a dirt bike!

Another reason why this e-moto stands out is the way it’s built. Electro and Co. know it’s very likely that this bike will be modded. Remember, that’s primarily what their company does. So, they’ve made it easy and crafted customization into the RTR from the start. Parts are swappable  and upgradable, and they have even thought about how easy it could be to upgrade the powertrain as increased power becomes available as technology advances.

At the core of Electro and Co. are riders who know what riders want, and you can see this come through everywhere you look on the ETM RTR.

Reason #4: The Unbeatable Performance-Per-Dollar

This list can’t be complete without some mention of the price. At only $3263 at the time of writing, the ETM RTR has to be the best value for money e-moto available. What this bike can do at this price range is amazing. Other electric pit bikes wouldn’t survive laps around the track like the ETM RTR does, even when it’s bone stock. Many of the mid-sized e-motos wouldn’t even survive the same riding!

If you want a good quality mid-sized e-moto that’s similar in performance to the ETM RTR, you’d be looking at something like the E Ride Pro SS, which is around $5200 at the time of writing. Sure, you get 12kW, not 8kW, but it’s $2000 more. It all depends on what you’re after.

If the price on the ETM RTR is still too much, Electro and Co. have also released the ETM RTR Lite, which is only $2200 at the time of writing. It’s very similar to the ETM RTR, apart from having a 5kW output and a few other minor changes to keep costs down. This is a fantastic alternative.

At such a low price point, the ETM RTR Lite is a great accessible entry point into a high-performance machine.

Reason #5: Solid Aftermarket Parts Are Available

Electro and Co. has made it easy to upgrade just about anything on their ETM RTR. Here is a list of the most common upgrades:

  • Electro and Co. Big Wheel Set (14”/17” set)
  • Electro and Co. ETM RTR 14” Street Wheel Set
  • Upgraded battery pack (more range and power)
  • High-rise handlebars
  • Complete body plastic set – great for replacement parts or a complete color change

Why The RTR Makes Our Top 3 E-Motos List

Simple. It’s a heap of fun. At a great price. And top-notch build quality. And the company that makes the bike already makes mods for it. We can’t find a bad thing to say about the ETM RTR.

We will always have the larger-sized E Ride Pro dirtbikes in our garages, but the ETM RTR deserves a place there also. There is something else about it that can’t come down to one particular thing. It’s hard to explain, but let me try.

When you’re always riding a high-performance e-moto, jumping bigger, railing berms faster, improving top speed, it’s a nice change of pace to jump on a small, nimble dirt bike that’s still more powerful than most weekend riders need. It’s impossible to ride the ETM RTR without a silly big grin. It’s contagious fun.

You can even keep the RTR in your truck (or car – since there’s no fuel to spill) and use it to get around at events. Race weekends, hare scrambles, anywhere you’d normally be stuck walking or firing up the race bike just to get to the spectator areas. Just use the RTR!
