Ebox Electric Dirt Bikes: Big Power in a Small Package

Ebox makes awesome, small, yet mighty pit bike-sized electric dirt bikes. Made by industry-leading brand Stomp, which has been around since 2006, the modern Ebox lineup defines the new generation electric pit-bike.

For under $2000, you’ll get some of the best value-for-money fun you can buy. Kids will love it, but they’ll have to pry it away from Mom and Dad first… yep, these pit bikes are a heap of fun for the adults too.

We took a completely stock Ebox 2.0 to a mate’s track, and this is what we got up to:

Let’s have a look at the Ebox lineup, which bike is best for you, and what you can do to get extra power. We’ll also compare it to another high performance electric pit bike in a side-by-side comparison, so you can see why riders love these zippy machines and decide if one is right for you.

Ebox Line Up

Ebox has a range of models, from dirt-bike style, to more of a street style. We’ll bypass V1 of the Ebox, and look at the current lineup.

Ebox 2.0 v2

  • Power: 2kW brushless motor and a 60V 18.2Ah lithium battery
  • Top speed: 32.3mph
  • Range: 21-25 miles per charge
  • Seat height: 26in
  • Weight: 93.7lbs

The Ebox 2.0 v2 is suitable for both beginners and more advanced riders. With easy dials, you can select the top speed and acceleration to suit your kid, or yourself. If you could imagine doing 32mph on a small-frame electric dirt bike, it’s pretty wild!

Even the suspension is made for some off-roading, with a progressive rear shock and forks that allow you to get out and ride the tracks. Check out this video of us pushing the limits on this pitbike (with a 16’ jump!).

Dragster

  • Power: 3kW peak output motor and a 60V 18.2Ah lithium battery
  • Top speed: 32mph
  • Range: 21-25 miles per charge
  • Seat height: 26in

This Coleman-mini-bike-style electric pit-bike is made for just about everything! Ride it peacefully around your neighborhood, or attempt some crazy stunts, it’s up to you. Kids can ride it, but so can the adults!

It has adjustable performance, which makes it perfect for all riding abilities. Power comes from a 60v motor with 3kW peak power, giving a top speed of around 32mph. Crazy! Hardly a Coleman mini bike, huh? Why don’t you check them out here?

Ebox 3.0 MX or SM

  • Power: 72V 20Ah battery
  • Seat height: 26in
  • Weight: 93.7lbs

If the 2.0 version isn’t enough for you, check out this Ebox 3.0!

The purpose of this pit bike is to mod. If you’re the modding pro, don’t waste your money on buying a complete bike, only to remove the stock motor and controller. The Ebox 3.0 comes as a ‘roller’. This means you get the complete bike, minus the controller, motor, and throttle.

The Ebox 3.0 does come with a powerful 72v 20amp battery. This potentially gives you unlimited power! Well, I’m not sure about unlimited, but we can recommend pairing this pit bike up with the Electro and Co Power Upgrade Kit for up to 5700w of power, which is all you need and more for a bike of this size!

There are two options – the MX or the SM version, the main difference is the MX is made for the dirt, and the SM is the Supermoto edition.

Is it a kid’s pitbike or an adult pitbike?

As a stock electric pit bike, anything from Ebox makes the perfect kid bike. The power can be dialed down for those starting to learn how to ride a dirt bike, and the physical size isn’t intimidating for a newbie.

Even the suspension will handle whatever your kid attempts and replacement parts are easy to source when the handlebars find the dirt!

However, the Ebox bikes are made to handle adult weight. The weight limit for the Ebox 2.0 is 300lbs! For a fully transparent review, even though these mini e-motos are fantastic as stock, we (as fully grown adults!) would prefer more power if you attempt to take them around an MX track. This is where the Ebox 3.0 comes in handy.

More power

How do you get more power? The options you have are to upgrade the Ebox V2.0, or start with the Ebox V3.0 and add the controller and motor of your choice.

For those brand new to the world of electric dirt bikes, a quick recap on how power is ‘created’: The controller is the ‘brains’. It tells the motor how much power to output, and it tells the battery how much power to give to the motor. The controller gets its info from data such as throttle position, brakes and more.

Here are a few articles if you would like to learn more about controllers, motors, and batteries. The articles discuss a Surron powertrain, but the same principle applies.

Ebox V2.0 vs Electro and Co ETM RTR

In a similar class, the Electro and Co ETM RTR can be compared to the Ebox. Let’s compare the Ebox V2.0, as V3.0 can have any motor or controller – which makes a difficult comparison!

A comparison btween the Ebox 2 vs ETM RTR

The first thing I would like to point out is the power output – 2kw peak vs 8kw peak on the ETM RTR. But then, have a look at the weight – 93lbs vs 130lbs. The Ebox V2 is much lighter. And cheaper – at almost half the price.

Both e-motos are a heap of fun to ride, but they serve different purposes. The Electro and Co ETM RTR is ‘ready to race’ – a huge amount of power in a frame that has suspension tuned to take the big power. The Ebox is still plenty fast, but it won’t match the ETM RTR for speed and acceleration. The Ebox is a fantastic value-for-money pit-bike, and its reduced power level is more accessible to kids and first-timers.

If you just can’t leave that kind of power on the table, another option is to look at the Ebox 3.0 and add the Electro and Co controller and battery combo. This will increase the power to 3.6kW. It just depends on what you’re after in your pit bike. We sell both brands, and some of us on the GritShift team personally own either the Ebox or ETM RTR – and love them both!

Ebox: The Verdict

The Ebox lineup is made for both kids and adults to enjoy. The adjustability of the power control makes this mini e-moto perfect for beginners and more advanced riders alike. With the options of the V2.0 and the V3.0, you have the choice of getting an awesome stock bike to ride straight away, or one that you can add your preferred controller/motor combo.
