- The ETM RTR XL Alpha is a 145-pound electric pit bike, delivering a massive 18kW of power at a top speed exceeding 70 mph.
- The XL model features a completely redesigned frame geometry from the Alpha, not just the addition of larger wheels.
- The ETM RTR XL Alpha will arrive competition-ready with high-strength CNC-machined parts and fully adjustable DNM suspension.
- It even has a holeshot mode to get in front of your mates.
We haven’t had our hands on the XL just yet, but Electro & Co.’s newest model, the ETM RTR XL Alpha, is a high-performance electric pit bike-sized machine that produces a huge 18kW of power. With a top speed of over 70mph, the Alpha also comes with an XL option. But this option isn’t just the same Alpha with bigger wheels – Electro & Co. have changed the whole geometry of the bike to be perfectly paired with the bigger wheel set – and today we’re going to dive into the differences.
Usually, if you’re looking for a pit bike-sized e-moto, you’re looking for something small and flickable. What if you want something slightly bigger, but still just as responsive? Usually, larger wheels are added to most other pit bike brands; however, this can lead to instability at higher speeds if the geometry isn’t also changed.

If you’re looking for a high performance, competition ready smaller e-moto, the ETM RTR XL Alpha could be what you’re looking for. We’ll look at the specs, the differences in the XL vs standard, and who this bike is best suited for.
We’ve been working with Electro & Co. for some time and love their build quality. Check out these videos of us backfliping our ETM RTRs… they’re virtually indestructible!! And yes, if you’re wondering, many of us on the GritShift team personally own an Electro & Co. e-moto.
ETM RTR XL Alpha Specs

The XL Alpha is a larger sized pit bike, with a massive 18kW of power propelling the 145 pound machine to over 70 mph! Crazy! The seat height is 32 inches, which means even though this is a pit bike, it is still very reasonable. For comparison, the E Ride Pro SS – a mid-sized e-moto – has a seat height of around 33 inches.
Powered with an Electro & Co. Revolver Motor, the XL Alpha comes with 2 power options and a holeshot option. Think about that… a 145 pound bike unleashes full send mode, rocketing to over 70mph with the holeshot option selected.
For those who are reading this and are new to the dirtbike world, holeshot refers to when pro racers launch their bikes off the starting line to be the first one to pass the apex of the first turn. This is a crucial point in racing, as statistically speaking, the rider who gets the holeshot usually goes on to win the race.
To match the amazing performance, the XL Alpha has been jam packed with top-tier components. Long story short, Electro & Co. have CNC’d everything that needs to be super strong. (CNC refers to the manufacturing process, Computer Numerical Control. It allows for precision manufacturing, maximising structural integrity.) This bike is made for hard riding!

XL Alpha Suspension
The ETM RTR XL Alpha has fully adjustable 48mm DNM suspension, which has been tuned by Electro & Co. specifically for the XL Alpha. Both the front and the rear have been dialed in to be stiff in the strokes, providing great handling on rough terrain, better cornering, and reducing bottoming out on big jumps. Just what any racer needs.
To get the power to the ground, a chunky 420 chain drives a Kenda 90/100-14 rear tire, made for grabbing the dirt. This is paired with a 70/100-17 front tire.
ETM RTR Alpha vs XL Alpha
Is the XL just the standard Alpha with bigger wheels? No. While the most noticeable difference between these bikes is the wheel size, there is much more to the story.
The XL Alpha has the right geometry for the 17/14 wheel set. Unlike many other brands, Electro & Co. redesigned the bike’s geometry to keep everything in proportion. The biggest differences between the XL and the standard Alpha are:
- Front wheels are Kenda 70/100-17
- Rear wheels are 90/100-14
- Extended swingarm
- Extended tail plastic
- Extended forks
Who is the ETM RTR XL Alpha best suited for:
The rider who needs a high-performance, strong, competition-ready bike would love riding the XL Alpha. Because the wheels are slightly bigger, you get the same nimble pit bike feel, but can ride the bigger bumps with more stability. The rider ergonomics allow a little more space, which is handy if you’re taller than average or prefer a different riding style.
The ETM RTR XL Alpha is Electro & Co.’s premium build, and because it’s from a company that makes high-end aftermarket upgrades for other bikes, there won’t be anything you need to mod on this bike. Of course, there are always things that can be modded. I’ll get to that shortly.
Check out this video from Electro & Co., it is the ETM RTR Alpha, not the XL Alpha, but you’ll get the idea!
After watching this, if you think you probably don’t need that much power, then check out the ETM RTR Sport or the Lite. The trick is to find the bike that is best suited to you and your riding style.
If you’re looking for a bike for your kid and are new to dirt bikes, then have a read of this article, which goes over the basics and suggests the best bikes to look at for age groups and abilities. TLDR: The ETM RTR Alpha would not be a beginner/kid bike.
Can you mod the ETM RTR XL Alpha?
Yes, the quick answer is yes. The longer answer is you probably don’t need to. But that’s not how we do things at GritShift, so here is what we would do:
- Upgrade the handlebars – It’s just a personal preference thing, but you get used to a particular barbend and, why not!
- Grips – Again, personal preference, but it’s an easy swap.
- Foot pegs – Not necessary, but it’s a common upgrade.
- Tires – Upgrade only if you need a different grip for the surface you’ll be riding on.
Keep in mind that we haven’t yet had a chance to get our hands on this bike, so as soon as we do, we’ll be able to report back what, if any, upgrades we do. Be sure to subscribe to our free email community to be the first notified.

GritShift thoughts
It’s pretty simple. We can’t wait to personally test this bike for ourselves. We know the build quality of Electro & Co., and have been very impressed with their ETM RTR range to date, and this looks like a faster, stronger version!
Most of our team here ride hard, just check out our Instagram to see for yourselves, but it doesn’t matter your style of riding, as long as you get out and have fun. With Electro & Co. expanding their range, it makes it easier to find the perfect bike for you.
At the time of writing, early April 2026, we don’t yet have any stock of these bikes. Austin, founder of Electro & Co., put out this video giving an update on when we can expect the Alpha to arrive.
