- The ETM RTR XL doesn’t just have bigger wheels. It also has an extended swingarm, longer forks, and longer tail section – all to keep the perfect geometry.
- The ETM RTR XL also has more power at 16kW compared to the 8kW on the ETM RTR Sport.
- Even though the ETM RTR is known for its pit bike size, the ETM RTR XL has a seat height of 32 inches and a spacious rider triangle designed for adult riders.
- In our experience, Electro & Co. builds high-quality, race-ready bikes, and the ETM RTR XL is no exception.

Electro & Co. has been expanding its range of electric dirt bikes at a rapid pace. This means there is more to choose from. But it also means you’ll need to work out which model is the best one for you – and that can be easier said than done!

To help you work out what is best, have a read of this article and see if the ETM RTR XL is the one for you. We’ll cover what the ETM RTR XL is, how it’s different from the ETM RTR Sport, and what it’s made to do.
If you haven’t heard of Electro & Co. yet, check out this video of their very first pre-production ETM RTR that we managed to get our hands on. Even at this early stage, Electro & Co. knew what they were doing and built a solid, fast bike.
ETM RTR XL Specifications
The ETM RTR XL is a bike with some serious acceleration. It has a huge 16kW of power and weighs only 145 pounds. Electro & Co. claim that this is the best rider geometry in their lineup. Spacious, comfortable, and made for riding hard.

Although all of the ETM RTR range is made for adults, this one is made for those who don’t want that pit-bike sized feel. It has a wheel base of 46.5 Inches and a seat height of 32 Inches.

Suspension is an Electro & Co. tuned 48mm fork with an adjustable DNM rear shock. Proper spec dirt bike tires get the 16kW to the ground and can propel you forward at holeshot speed – yes, the ETM RTR XL has 2 power modes plus a holeshot mode!

So, after looking at this info, how does it differ from the ETM RTR Sport? Is it simply a bigger bike? Not at all…
ETM RTR Sport vs ETM RTR XL
At first glance, it seems the ETM RTR XL is the Sport with bigger wheels. Then you start to notice that it doesn’t look out of proportion.
The tail plastics are the correct length, the swingarm looks right, and the stance of the bike looks balanced. That’s because the ETM RTR Sport and the XL have many differences beyond their physical size alone.

Size
Compared to the ETM RTR Sport, the ETM RTR XL has the following upgrades:
- Extended swingarm
- Extended forks
- Extended rear tail plastics
- Tall handlebars
While many different companies simply put different sized wheels on their bikes to create the bigger version, Electro & Co. redesigned the XL to ensure the geometry stayed right. We know all about this; we change the wheel size often on our own personal bikes. While it does work, there is usually much more to do, such as changing to bigger forks to keep the geometry correct.

Without the extended swingarm, the wheelbase would be much shorter, and this would make the bike much less stable. The ETM RTR Sport has a wheelbase of 44.5 Inches, which works well for the 14/12 wheel setup. The XL has a 46.5 Inch wheelbase which lends itself better to the 17/14 wheel setup.

Power
You might have also noticed the power difference. 16kW on the XL versus 8kW on the Sport. For comparison, 8kW is a huge amount of power and can easily get you around the mototrack, complete with jumps! 16kW is just next level.
The ETM RTR XL has the Revolver Alpha, while the Sport has the Revolver IPM Brushless motor. The battery on the XL is also slightly bigger, 72V 35Ah, compared to 72V 25Ah on the Sport.

Can you mod the ETM RTR XL?
Yes! Electro & Co. designs all of the models with compatibility in mind. Most of the components on these bikes can be changed between models.
This works in two ways. If you have the ETM RTR Sport and want more power, upgrading to the XL powertrain is possible. To keep the correct geometry, you could also upgrade the swingarm and forks. It saves you from buying a whole new bike if you want bigger power.
On the other hand, if you want to mod the ETM RTR XL, you also get plenty of options. As of the time of writing this, we don’t have the ETM RTR XL yet. As soon as we get our hands on it, Rusty and his team will have a good look over the bike and let us know some initial thoughts on what can be upgraded.
As our team gets time on the ETM RTR XL, we’ll also be able to let you know what we would upgrade and why. Make sure you subscribe to our free email newsletter to be the first to hear about what we will do first.
Who needs the ETM RTR XL?
The ETM RTR XL is the perfect bike for more experienced riders. While the complete ETM RTR range has been created with the adult rider in mind, some riders find the ETM RTR Sport feeling slightly cramped. This is where the XL comes in.
The ETM RTR XL is much more spacious in the riders’ triangle than the RTR Sport. The seat height is 32 Inches. For reference, the seat height of the E Ride Pro SS model is around 33 inches. The handlebars are also higher than the Sport, which again is better for taller riders.

As for the 16kW, that sort of power will be plenty for most riders. It will easily get you around the MX track, jumps, and through sand sections.
- If you want even more power, then look at the ETM RTR Alpha, Electro & Co.’s most powerful bike yet.
- And if 16kW feels too much, then read this article all about the ETM RTR Sport or the ETM RTR Lite at 5kW.
So many to choose from!
GritShift’s Thoughts
We can’t wait to get our first shipment of the ETM RTR XLs. We have been proud to work with E&C for a long time and we have no reason to expect this new model will be anything other than impressive, and E&C anything other than humble and forthcoming if any issues do arise. We wouldn’t carry their stuff if that wasn’t the case.
So far, the ETM RTR Sport has been a fantastic bike, holding up well to our style of riding (which is fully pinned… hard riding style if you haven’t seen our YouTube videos!), so we can only guess that the XL is going to be even better!

If you’ve read any of our other articles about Electro & Co., you have heard me talk about how good it is to have parts that can interchange between models. If you have mastered the power and speed on one E&C model, you can simply buy the bigger powertrain from another. That’s much cheaper than buying a whole new bike!
Electro & Co. builds high-quality bikes, and we know this XL version of the ETM RTR is going to live up to the Electro & Co. name. If you’re thinking about getting an electric dirt bike, make sure you have a good look at the ETM RTR range to pick the best bike for you.
