2025 Surron LBX

2025 Surron Light Bee Review: What We Really Think

Who is Surron?

Surron is the OG of electric dirt bikes. They have been around for over 10 years, and have really perfected the e-moto. Or have they? The latest release, the 2025 Surron Light Bee X (also known as LBX) is awesome in almost every way.

Currently, around 4 or 5 big brands are competing in this new space of electric dirt bikes, which Surron effectively started. All brands have a similar line-up – a pit bike, a small ‘entry-level’, a bigger bike, and then a super-high performance e-moto – and Surron is no exception.

The current lineup is:

  • Hyper Bee: 5kW, 84lbs pitbike
  • Light Bee S: 3.5kW 108lbs – designed for beginner riders
  • Light Bee X: (late 2025 model) 8kW, 125lbs
  • Ultra Bee (2025): 21Kw, 195lbs high-performance e-moto
  • Storm Bee (2025): 22.5kW, 279 lbs enduro e-moto

Many classify the Light Bee as a ‘mid-sized’ e-moto, which would have to be the most popular class of electric dirt bike as of today.

Let’s look at the 2025 Surron Light Bee, what Surron has upgraded on this popular e-moto, and who should buy one of these electric dirt bikes.

The Upgrades

The 2025 Surron Light Bee has a peak output of 8kW, compared to 6kW from the previous year. Cosmetic upgrades include a brand new lime-ish green color scheme, which is quite dividing. Some say it’s awesome, some are not a fan. Either way, Surron also has the original colors to choose from.

The seat has had an upgrade, which you will appreciate on longer rides if you’re not on the pegs, and the wheels are more dirt-aggressive, with an 18-inch rear. The brakes have had a big upgrade and now run DOT fluid. This will make them much less prone to brake fade.

The price point at the time of writing is $4500, while the 2024 model can be found for slightly less as the dealers run out the older stock.

Word of warning: If you’re looking at buying the latest model, check to see that you’re getting the 8kW version. Some dealers may have 2025-plated versions of the older model. Unlike other brands, Surron is keeping the same name of the Light Bee X.

How fast is the 2025 Surron Light Bee X

The 2025 Surron Light Bee X has a top speed of around 49 mph. Surron states on its website that acceleration is 0-31mph in 2.7 seconds. This would depend on the rider and conditions.

There are plenty of ways you can mod your Surron Light Bee X to find a faster top speed. This includes upgrading the controller, battery, or motor.

Read this article here on powertrain upgrades if you’re not familiar with how electric dirt bikes obtain their power. You could also look at replacing the rear sprocket with a smaller sprocket to increase top speed – at the expense of torque.

Keep in mind the Surron Light Bee X still runs a 60v system. This doesn’t necessarily make it less powerful, as Watts = Amps x Voltage. Read this article that goes into detail about the pros and cons of 60v vs 72v battery, but as a quick recap, if you run 60v, you’ll need higher amps to get the wattage output. More amps mean more resistance and heat buildup, so it’s preferred to keep amps lower.

To get big power upgrades on the 2025 LBX, you’ll need to look at changing the system to a 72v system, which companies like E Ride Pro already have out of the box. I think we need to chat about the comparisons to see why Surron is almost better in every way.

Comparison with the E Ride Pro 3.0

The comparison between the Surron LBX 2025 and the E Ride Pro SS 3.0 is the most logical – and the most commonly asked question. The SS range is E Ride Pro’s mid size e-moto, and fits the same category as the LBX.

However, the first thing you’ll notice is the power difference. It’s almost double at 15.8kw peak power compared to Surron’s 8kw output.

The size of both e-motos are similar:

  • Surron Light Bee X 2025 seat height: 32.6in
  • E Ride Pro SS 3.0 seat height: 32.7in

Both e-motos have the same size tires, although the E Ride Pro SS 3.0 weighs around 40lbs more than the Surron.

What about the cost?

At the time of writing:

For an extra $700, you can get yourself a faster, more powerful e-moto that requires less modding. Check out Surronster’s review:

You may still be wondering, if Surron were the first to introduce us to the world of e-moto, surely they’re still awesome. Yes, they are. But other brands are getting faster, better, and quicker. This is giving me slight Nokia vibes. Seriously though, why do riders still choose Surron?

Is power everything?

Surron is known for its reliability, they build great electric dirt bikes that have a unique and balanced feel. They’re flickable, nimble, and still just as fantastic as when they first came out.

Not everyone is after the fastest e-moto, and some riders choose to buy Surron knowing they’re a great base to mod with a robust aftermarket community that’s been building for years.

Mods you can do to the Surron

You can do just about any mod to your Surron! Even though the 2025 is the latest model, it is basically the same design as the day Surron released the first version of the LBX. This has its advantages, and that is the huge selection of aftermarket parts that are available.

Upgrade the suspension. Easy. Strengthen the rear linkage – known to be a weak point for those who push the limits. Done. Increase the power. Simple.

Is a Surron Light Bee X road legal?

Straight from the showroom, the Surron Light Bee X isn’t road-legal in the United States. But you can make it road legal. If you live in the USA, head over to our sister company Dirt Legal, and they’ll help you out with the paperwork.

Depending on where you live, you’ll need to make a few mods to make it street legal. Simple things like mirrors, turn signals, number plate lights, etc. Dirt Legal can help advise you on what you’ll need to do, or look up your local DMV and you’ll find info on their websites. In other parts of the world, you’ll need to contact your local government body to find out the steps required.

Where to buy the 2025 Surron LBX

At the moment, you can only buy a Surron LBX from a dealership in person. There are no approved online companies, as I’m writing this. I’ve heard you can still get a Surron from marketplaces like Alibaba, but Surron won’t cover any warranty issues if the bike wasn’t purchased from an authorized dealer. I wouldn’t be recommending this option – it’s just too risky.

Here is a list of the approved dealers:

Where to buy the E Ride Pro SS

Right here! E Ride Pro seems to be more with the times. They offer wonderful support to online official dealers, like us. All our E Ride Pro bikes come with full warranties, and E Ride is very proactive in helping with any issue that could arise.

Should you buy a Surron Light Bee X?

If you’re a beginner, the Surron Light Bee X would have enough power to get you started. If you want to mod a good, comfortable frame, go with a Surron.

However, if you want something that is a great all-round e-moto, with a heap of power right from the start, and with all the options for modding if you choose, we would recommend having a serious look at E Ride Pro.

Yes, we know – we’re E Ride Pro dealers, however, most of us also personally own an E Ride Pro, even after owning Surron for years (and even before we became E Ride Pro dealers). If you’ve been following us for a while, you’ll know we only sell things we use ourselves and love.
