What is the craze with getting a brand new electric dirt bike, then quickly upgrading a bunch of perfectly good working parts? It’s called modding. And there are a number of reasons why someone would want to upgrade parts on their Surron.
Modding can occur because you want to customize your e-moto to the particular style of riding you enjoy most. You might need more power, maybe bigger suspension, maybe better ergos. But you might also want to mod to change the color. Add a splash of your own personality.
Most of the time, you’d have to choose: do you upgrade for performance or do you upgrade for looks? The time is here where you no longer need to choose. You can have top-performing parts and a wicked color pop.

Heavy Hitter: Performance Parts before anything else.
If you’ve just come across our page, then welcome to the world of e-moto with GritShift. If you’ve been following us for a while, you’ll already know that GritShift doesn’t do things in a small way. We ride our electric dirt bikes way beyond what the manufacturers recommend. And because we ride hard, we need performance parts.
Heavy Hitter is GritShift’s in-house designed and created parts line.
We purposely push the limits to see what will fail on a stock Surron, then upgrade those parts to withstand the biggest of jumps, the longest of whoops, or even a full enduro race. R&D boss Rusty leads his in-house team of designers, fabricators, and bike enthusiasts to create the parts for those who push the limits on their bikes. The thing is, Rusty also needs these parts as he’s a regular competitor in some of the toughest races around. If he can trust his own products, I know everyone can!
The R&D team’s first requirement when creating parts is top performance. This refers not just to overall strength, but sometimes parts need a slight flex to them, or sometimes the airflow is important, and sometimes they need everything at once!
Then, the part needs to be easily and quickly fitted. No one wants to spend the day in the garage when you can be at the track. Lastly, it needs to look good. Up until now, all the parts came in one color, usually black. But not for long…
High Performance Parts that look good
There are a number of riders who love modding their e-motos to make them look the part. When performance isn’t their highest priority, but personalization is. And that’s awesome. An electric dirt bike is meant to be ridden the way you want it to be ridden. As long as you get out and enjoy, we’re here for every type of rider. This new color range is perfect for those who mod for personalization.
Then there’s the type of rider who mod because they need the performance to ride a particular way, but also like a bit of personalization. I’m in this category. I love having the option to add a splash of color if I can. While there are cheap alternatives to modding to add color, it’s also nice to know the part you’re upgrading is stronger, better, and overall safer than the original, too.
In true GritShift style, most Heavy Hitter color parts are made from high-grade aluminum, with an anodized finish.
If you’re not sure what anodized finish means, it is a process that involves an electrochemical wizardry that changes the metal surface into a really durable, corrosion-resistant finish. Basically, it’s super tough and can’t chip or peel off like painted surfaces can. Yep, even the color is high performance! Rusty and his R&D team don’t cut any corners!
