- 15.8kW peak, 6kW rated, 72V 50aH battery – lots of power, maybe too much for a new electric rider.
- 0-30 MPH in less than 2 seconds – never gets old.
- 2.0 vs 3.0: Save your money and get the 2.0 if you’re not looking to push the limits. Get the 3.0 if you want to ride hard – it will withstand it better.
The E Ride Pro SS 3.0 is possibly the best value for money electric dirt bike you can get. Why? The price vs the power is crazy good. 16kW for around $5000, and that includes quality components. But, $5000 is still a heap of money, so we need to work out if this bike is best for you, and do you really need 16kW?
Ok, that might be a silly question. Everyone ‘needs’ 16kW, I know I do! However, would you jump on the E Ride Pro SS 3.0 as a beginner? It can reach speeds of 62mph, which isn’t a walk in the park. It can accelerate to 30mph in under 2 seconds. Is it more suited to an advanced rider? The answer is actually both, and I’ll explain why shortly.
We need to find out what the differences are between the SS 2.0 and the SS 3.0, in terms of power, build, and features, to see if you need to spend the extra money, or if the SS 2.0 suits your riding style better.

The Simple Stats on the E Ride Pro SS 3.0
Is it better to save your money and buy the SS 2.0 or get the SS 3.0 for a little bit more?
Let’s start by looking at the simple stats. You can find these anywhere on the internet, but for quick reference, here they are:

The E Ride Pro SS 3.0 has 15.8kW peak and 6kW rated power, which allows it to accelerate to 30mph in around 2 seconds. This power comes from a 72V 50aH battery, which is hot swappable, meaning you can quickly swap the battery for a new one so you don’t lose any track time. Charge time to 90% is around 3.5 hours if you have one battery.
The range is around 64 miles if you’re holding a steady 25mph. Real world tests say it’s very similar to that, but of course, it depends on the terrain, riding style, and more. It weighs 167 lbs, but the weight feels even lighter due to the design. This is a flickable, nimble bike, which is what draws so many riders into the world of e-moto.
Upgraded from the SS 2.0:

Between the E Ride Pro SS 2.0 and the E Ride Pro SS 3.0, the biggest differences come from the power output. It may not seem like a big jump, but going from 12kW peak power to 16kW peak power gives you a noticeable difference in acceleration. The extra amp-hours also mean the battery has more capacity, and in general, the E Ride Pro SS 3.0 is a more capable bike.
This is what we mean:
Power on the E Ride Pro SS 3.0
Acceleration:
The E Ride Pro SS 3.0 has 15.8kW of power from a 72V 50 Ah battery. This gives 520nm of torque at the wheel, which is enough to propel you 0-30mph in 2 seconds. At that speed, you need to hang on! Some riders say it is the equivalent of a 250cc 2-stroke, if you could imagine taking the gears away.
Range:
With the larger 50 amp-hour battery, the E Ride Pro SS 3.0 can take you over 64 miles at 25mph, or 116 plus miles at 15mph. To put that into real-world data, that’s a solid afternoon at the track or a full day of slower, more technical trails. The battery is easily swappable if you do need extra range.

Build Quality
Chassis:
A step above the E Ride Pro SS 2.0, the SS 3.0 is lightweight, stronger, and made to withstand more abuse. The way the chassis and components are designed makes this bike awesome doing a mix of everything, from trails to road riding.
Brakes:
The E Ride Pro SS 3.0 has some good quality stopping power, with DOT 4 fluid and moto-style brakes with a smooth feel. When you add extra power to a bike, you need bigger brakes to be able to stop! E Ride Pro has added ultra-thick brake pads to enhance your stopping power.
Suspension:
Suspension on the E Ride Pro SS 3.0 is the next step up from the SS 2.0. It has Fastace suspension, which has been factory tuned with a smooth progressive stroke. Fastace is a well-known suspension brand who create top quality e-moto suspension. Being a well-known brand means it is easy to upgrade or replace internal components of the forks as there are plenty of aftermarket and replacement parts available.

Wheels:
The E Ride Pro SS 3.0 has 19” wheels on the front and 18” wheels on the rear. The Shinko 241 style tire is good for most terrain options. We do find that this wheel setup is OK for the majority of riders, but for those who want to ride hard and push the limits, we suggest looking into a 19/16 setup. This gives better stability, more low-end torque, and generally, we find it handles much better.
I also personally always upgrade tires on any new bike I get, as I know what terrain I like riding in, and get the tires that suit those conditions. If you’re not sure where you’ll be riding, always keep the stock tires on until you work out where you ride most of the time.
Features: The Cool Stuff
Ride Modes
The E Ride Pro SS 3.0 has 2 regen modes, sport and eco modes, and also forward and reverse. Reverse is something that many riders don’t think they need, until they need it! I come from a gas dirt bike background, and my first thought was I’d never use reverse, but it turns out it’s very useful for backing out of tight spaces, especially if you didn’t mean to end up there… if you know what I mean!
Displays
Right in the middle of the handlebars is a big display where you can easily see your speed, battery temp and level, and other useful information. It is really clear and the colors make it easy to view at a glance.
Headlights
If you’ve ever ridden any e-moto before, you’ll know most headlights are terrible. They don’t light up much in front, and good luck if you’re going to try some dirt tracks at nighttime, unless it’s a bright moonlit night! However, on the E Ride Pro, the headlights are actually usable. You even get a button that turns the headlight on and off! Surprisingly, not many e-motos have this option. It is very useful if you want to conserve power in the daytime.
Why choose the E Ride Pro 3.0?
There are many reasons why a rider would choose the SS 3.0 over the SS 2.0; the handlebars on the SS 3.0 are slightly higher, better suiting a taller rider. The wheel size 19/18 on the SS 3.0 is better for ride feel than on the SS 2.0, and it has better acceleration and a higher top speed. The components on the SS 3.0 will also benefit someone who likes to ride a little harder, maybe a sneaky jump or two at the MX track.
What is similar to the E Ride Pro SS 3.0?
If you’re still not sure if the E Ride Pro SS 3.0 is the perfect bike for you, here are a few options that you might want to consider:
Talaria Sting MX5
The Talaria Sting Pro/MX5 is another option that could be comparable to the E Ride Pro SS 3.0, with a 72v, 40Ah battery, peak power of 13.4kW, and it’s a similar size.
Zero XE
A similarly sized e-moto, the Zero XE has a power output of 15.5kW, has a 21/18 wheel setup, but is slightly heavier. This isn’t necessarily an issue, it just depends on the ride feel that you’re after. Some riders prefer that planted feeling, while others like the maneuverability of a lightweight bike.
